General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-11891) is a rabbit-derived IgG polyclonal antibody raised against human SELT, targeting the amino acid region 1–100 of the protein. This antibody exhibits cross-reactivity with SELT from mouse, rat, dog, and rabbit. It has been affinity purified by protein A. This gene encodes a selenoprotein, containing a selenocysteine (Sec) residue at the active site. Sec is encoded by the UGA codon that normally signals translation termination. The 3' UTRs of selenoprotein mRNAs contain a conserved stem-loop structure, the Sec insertion sequence (SECIS) element, that is necessary for the recognition of UGA as a Sec codon rather than as a stop signal. This protein is localized in the endoplasmic reticulum. It belongs to the SelWTH family that possesses a thioredoxin-like fold and a conserved CxxU (C is cysteine, U is Sec) motif found in several redox active proteins. Studies in mice indicate a crucial role for this gene in the protection of dopaminergic neurons against oxidative stress in Parkinson's disease, and in the control of glucose homeostasis in pancreatic beta-cells. Pseudogenes of this locus have been identified on chromosomes 9 and 5.
DPABH-11891 is suitable for use in Western blot (WB) (1:500–1:2,000), IHC-P (1:100–1:500), IHC-F (1:100–1:500), IF (immunofluorescence) (1:100–1:500), ICC/IF (1:100–1:500) applications.
DPABH-11891 is supplied as a liquid formulation in 0.02% Proclin300, 1% BSA, 0.01M PBS, pH7.4. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
