General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-18490) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human SCGN, targeting the amino acid region 1–276 of the protein. This antibody exhibits cross-reactivity with Human SCGN from mouse and rat. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. Secretagogin is a highly conserved hexa-EF-hand calcium-binding protein encoded by the SCGN gene, functioning primarily as a calcium sensor that modulates regulated exocytosis in endocrine and neuronal cells. It was discovered in 1998 through screening for antigens specific to human insulinomas and pancreatic beta cells, revealing its role in facilitating insulin secretion. Structurally, secretagogin features three globular domains, each with paired EF-hand motifs that undergo cooperative conformational changes upon binding calcium ions with low affinity (half-maximal ~25 μM), enabling it to sense elevated intracellular calcium levels rather than buffer them.
DPABH-18490 is suitable for use in ELISA (1:4,000–1:8,000), IHC (1:50–1:100), Western blot (WB) (1:1,000–1:4,000) applications.
DPABH-18490 is supplied as a liquid formulation in 0.01M PBS, pH 7.4, 50% Glycerol, 0.05% Proclin 300. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
