General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-24552) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human OR5M1. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. OR5M1 is a protein-coding gene in humans that encodes the olfactory receptor 5M1 (OR5M1), a member of the G protein-coupled receptor superfamily responsible for detecting odorant molecules in the nasal epithelium to initiate neuronal signaling for smell perception. Located on the long arm of chromosome 11 at position 11q12.1 (specifically, chr11:56,609,236-56,614,874 on the reverse strand in GRCh38 assembly), it spans approximately 5,639 base pairs and consists of a single coding exon, producing a 315-amino-acid protein with a molecular mass of 35,608 Da. The gene belongs to the OR5M subfamily within the larger olfactory receptor gene family, which is the largest in the human genome, comprising approximately 400 functional genes and around 800 pseudogenes distributed across about 51 loci on 21 chromosomes. Olfactory receptors like OR5M1 feature a characteristic seven-transmembrane domain structure and enable activities such as odorant binding, G protein-coupled receptor signaling, and sensory perception of chemical stimuli involved in olfaction. While primarily expressed in the olfactory epithelium, transcript detection has also been noted in male germ line stem cells of the testis, though its functional role there remains unclear. Evolutionarily, OR5M1 has orthologs in other mammals, including chimpanzee (99% similarity), mouse (Olfr1023 at 82.74% similarity), and rat (Olr466), reflecting conserved mechanisms in vertebrate olfaction, with no identified orthologs in non-mammalian species.
DPABH-24552 is suitable for use in WB 1 (1000-3000) application.
DPABH-24552 is supplied as a liquid formulation in Phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, 150mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
