General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-24162) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human OR4F4. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. OR4F4 is a pseudogene in the human genome, classified as olfactory receptor family 4 subfamily F member 4, which represents a non-functional remnant of a gene that would encode a protein involved in odorant detection. Located on the long arm of chromosome 15 at position 15q26.3, it spans approximately 918 base pairs in the GRCh38.p14 assembly and is part of the largest gene family in the genome, comprising G protein-coupled receptors responsible for initiating neuronal responses to smells in the olfactory system. Although OR4F4 shares the 7-transmembrane domain structure typical of active olfactory receptors, its pseudogene status means it does not produce a functional protein, as confirmed by the suppression of previously associated transcripts. This gene, also known by aliases such as OR4F18 and OLA-7501, exemplifies the polymorphic and duplicated nature of olfactory receptor genes near telomeric regions.
DPABH-24162 is suitable for use in IHC 1 (50-1:200), WB 1 (500-1:1000), IF/ICC 1 (100-1:500) applications.
DPABH-24162 is supplied as a liquid formulation in Phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, 150mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
