KAT7 (K(lysine) acetyltransferase 7) is a protein-coding gene. Diseases associated with KAT7 include monocytic leukemia, and thyroiditis, and among its related super-pathways are Signal transduction Activin A signaling regulation. GO annotations related to this gene include histone acetyltransferase activity and sequence-specific DNA binding transcription factor activity. An important paralog of this gene is KAT6B. Component of the HBO1 complex which has a histone H4-specific acetyltransferase activity, a reduced activity toward histone H3 and is responsible for the bulk of histone H4 acetylation in vivo. Through chromatin acetylation it may regulate DNA replication and act as a coactivator of TP53-dependent transcription. Specifically represses AR-mediated transcription.
