MGST3; microsomal glutathione S-transferase 3; microsomal GST-3; MGC127068
MGST3 (Microsomal Glutathione S-Transferase 3) is a Protein Coding gene. Among its related pathways are Metabolism and Phase II conjugation. GO annotations related to this gene include glutathione transferase activity and glutathione peroxidase activity. This gene encodes a member of the MAPEG (Membrane Associated Proteins in Eicosanoid and Glutathione metabolism) protein family. Members of this family are involved in the production of leukotrienes and prostaglandin E, important mediators of inflammation. This gene encodes an enzyme which catalyzes the conjugation of leukotriene A4 and reduced glutathione to produce leukotriene C4. This enzyme also demonstrates glutathione-dependent peroxidase activity towards lipid hydroperoxides.
Also functions as a glutathione peroxidase. Microsomal glutathione S-transferase 3 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the MGST3 gene. 0The function about MGST3 antigen include glutathione peroxidase activity; glutathione transferase activity; transferase activity.
