General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-07122) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human IFNA21, targeting the amino acid region 25–189 of the protein. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. Interferon alpha-21 (IFN-α21) is a cytokine protein encoded by the IFNA21 gene in humans, belonging to the type I interferon family that plays a crucial role in the innate immune response against viral infections. The IFNA21 gene is located on the short arm of chromosome 9 at position 9p21.3, within a cluster of alpha interferon genes, and it produces a 189-amino-acid precursor protein that matures into IFN-α21, which is primarily secreted by leukocytes such as macrophages and dendritic cells upon recognition of pathogen-associated molecular patterns. IFN-α21 exhibits potent antiviral activity by inducing the expression of interferon-stimulated genes, which inhibit viral replication, and it also modulates immune cell functions, including enhancing natural killer cell cytotoxicity and promoting antigen presentation. Additionally, IFNA21 has been implicated in inflammatory processes, with associations to conditions like multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children and potential roles in coronary artery disease progression through age-dependent mechanisms. The protein's structure features four characteristic cysteine residues forming two disulfide bonds essential for its biological activity, and recombinant forms have been studied for therapeutic applications in viral diseases and certain cancers due to their antiproliferative effects.
DPABH-07122 is suitable for use in ELISA (1:4,000–1:8,000), IHC (1:50–1:100), Western blot (WB) (1:1,000–1:4,000) applications.
DPABH-07122 is supplied as a liquid formulation in 0.01M PBS, pH 7.4, 50% Glycerol, 0.05% Proclin 300. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
