Product Background
Gene summary
NR2F1 (Nuclear Receptor Subfamily 2 Group F Member 1) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with NR2F1 include bosch-boonstra-schaaf optic atrophy syndrome and optic atrophy-intellectual disability syndrome. Among its related pathways are Gene Expression and Developmental Biology. GO annotations related to this gene include transcription factor activity, sequence-specific DNA binding and transcription coactivator activity. An important paralog of this gene is RXRG. The protein encoded by this gene is a nuclear hormone receptor and transcriptional regulator. The encoded protein acts as a homodimer and binds to 5'-AGGTCA-3' repeats. Defects in this gene are a cause of Bosch-Boonstra optic atrophy syndrome (BBOAS).
Antigen Description
Bosch-Boonstra-Schaaf optic atrophy syndrome (BBSOAS) [MIM:615722]: An autosomal dominant disorder characterized by optic atrophy associated with developmental delay and intellectual disability. Most patients also have evidence of cerebral visual impairment. Note=The disease is caused by mutations affecting the gene represented in this entry. COUP-TF1 (COUP Transcription Factor 1) also known as NR2F1 (Nuclear Receptor subfamily 2, group F, member 1) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the NR2F1 gene. This protein is a member of nuclear hormone receptor family of steroid hormone receptors. Coup (chicken ovalbumin upstream promoter) transcription factor binds to the ovalbumin promoter and, in conjunction with another protein (S300-II) stimulates initiation of transcription. COUP-TF1 binds to both direct repeats and palindromes of the 5-AGGTCA-3 motif. The function about NR2F1 antigen include ligand-activated sequence-specific DNA binding RNA polymerase II transcription factor activity; metal ion binding; protein binding; receptor activity; sequence-specific DNA binding; sequence-specific DNA binding transcription factor activity; steroid horm.
