Immunogen
Synthetic peptide corresponding to residues near the N terminal of human lectin, galactoside-binding, soluble, 7
General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-05569) is a rabbit-derived IgG polyclonal antibody raised against human LGALS7. It has been affinity purified by protein A. Galectin-7 is a small, soluble, unglycosylated β-galactoside-binding lectin belonging to the prototype subgroup of the galectin family, which comprises 12 members in humans identified by their affinity for β-galactosides on cell surfaces and extracellular matrix components. Encoded by the LGALS7 gene on chromosome 19q13.2, it functions both intra- and extracellularly in regulating key cellular processes such as apoptosis, proliferation, differentiation, adhesion, and migration, with prominent expression in stratified epithelia like the epidermis, cornea, esophagus, and myoepithelial cells of the mammary gland. Originally identified as a marker of epidermal differentiation and a p53-inducible gene involved in UV-induced keratinocyte apoptosis, galectin-7 exhibits context-dependent roles in physiology and pathology, including wound healing, immune modulation, reproductive biology, and cancer, where it can act as either pro-apoptotic or protumorigenic depending on the cellular environment and p53 status.
DPABH-05569 is suitable for use in IHC (1:50–1:200) application.
DPABH-05569 is supplied as a liquid formulation in pH7.4 PBS, 0.05% sodium azide, 40% Glycerol. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
