General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-08528) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human GFER, targeting the amino acid region 99–205 of the protein. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. Growth factor, ERV1-like (GFER) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 16p13.3 that encodes the augmenter of liver regeneration (ALR) protein, an FAD-dependent sulfhydryl oxidase essential for the mitochondrial disulfide relay system, liver regeneration, and cellular redox homeostasis. The GFER gene produces two isoforms of the ALR protein from the same mRNA using alternative initiation codons: a longer 205-amino-acid isoform (23 kDa) that localizes primarily to the mitochondrial intermembrane space and functions in oxidative phosphorylation and disulfide bond formation, and a shorter 125-amino-acid isoform (15 kDa) that is predominantly nuclear. The protein is highly conserved across species, sharing 42% similarity with the yeast homolog scERV1, and acts as a hepatotrophic factor by facilitating electron transfer to molecular oxygen and cytochrome c, thereby supporting mitochondrial genome maintenance and cell division. GFER expression is ubiquitous but highest in tissues such as the liver, testis, small intestine, and duodenum, with detection in fetal organs including the heart, kidney, and lung during gestation.
DPABH-08528 is suitable for use in ELISA (1:4,000–1:8,000), IHC (1:50–1:100), Western blot (WB) (1:1,000–1:4,000) applications.
DPABH-08528 is supplied as a liquid formulation in 0.01M PBS, pH 7.4, 50% Glycerol, 0.05% Proclin 300. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
