NDUFB6 (NADH:Ubiquinone Oxidoreductase Subunit B6) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with NDUFB6 include inclusion body myopathy with paget disease of bone and frontotemporal dementia and mitochondrial complex i deficiency. Among its related pathways are Metabolism and Respiratory electron transport, ATP synthesis by chemiosmotic coupling, and heat production by uncoupling proteins. GO annotations related to this gene include NADH dehydrogenase (ubiquinone) activity. The protein encoded by this gene is a subunit of the multisubunit NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase (complex I). Mammalian complex I is composed of 45 different subunits. It locates at the mitochondrial inner membrane. This protein has NADH dehydrogenase activity and oxidoreductase activity. It transfers electrons from NADH to the respiratory chain. The immediate electron acceptor for the enzyme is believed to be ubiquinone. Alternative splicing occurs at this locus and three transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
Ci protein, short for Cubitus interruptus, is a zinc finger containing transcription factor involved in the Hedgehog signaling pathway. In the absence of a signal to the Hedgehog signaling pathway, the Ci protein is cleaved and destroyed in proteasomes. It isn"t, however, completely destroyed; part of the protein survives and acts as a repressor in the nucleus, keeping genes responsive to the Hedgehog signal silent. Accessory subunit of the mitochondrial membrane respiratory chain NADH dehydrogenase (Complex I), that is believed not to be involved in catalysis. Complex I functions in the transfer of electrons from NADH to the respiratory chain. It is also known as Complex I and is the largest of the five complexes of the electron transport chain. The protein encoded by this gene is an accessory subunit of the multisubunit NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase (complex I) that is not directly involved in catalysis. However, NDUFB6 is required for electron transfer activity. Mammalian complex I is composed of 44 different subunits. It locates at the mitochondrial inner membrane. This protein complex has NADH dehydrogenase activity and oxidoreductase activity. It transfers electrons from NADH to the respiratory chain. Alternative splicing occurs at this locus and two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified. Initially, NADH binds to Complex I and transfers two electrons to the isoalloxazine ring of the flavin mononucleotide (FMN) prosthetic arm to form FMNH2. The function about ci antigen include contributes_to RNA polymerase II core promoter proximal region sequence-specific DNA binding transcription factor activity involved in positive regulation of transcription; RNA polymerase II regulatory region sequence-specific DNA binding; protein binding.
