General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-01368) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human CAV2, targeting the amino acid region 2–86 of the protein. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. Caveolin-2 (CAV2) is a 20-kDa integral membrane protein and a key component of caveolae, which are 50–100 nm flask-shaped invaginations of the plasma membrane enriched in cholesterol and sphingolipids, primarily functioning in cellular signaling, endocytosis, and mechanoprotection. It belongs to the caveolin family of proteins, alongside caveolin-1 (CAV1) and the muscle-specific caveolin-3 (CAV3), and adopts a hairpin-like topology with both N- and C-termini facing the cytoplasm, featuring a central intramembrane hydrophobic domain of approximately 33 amino acids flanked by hydrophilic regions, including an N-terminal scaffolding domain (residues 82–101) that mediates protein interactions and oligomerization. Unlike CAV1, which can independently drive caveolae formation, CAV2 requires co-expression with CAV1 to traffic from the Golgi apparatus to the plasma membrane, form stable hetero-oligomers, and avoid degradation, thereby stabilizing caveolae structure in non-muscle cells.
DPABH-01368 is suitable for use in ELISA (1:4,000–1:8,000), IHC (1:50–1:100), Western blot (WB) (1:1,000–1:4,000) applications.
DPABH-01368 is supplied as a liquid formulation in 0.01M PBS, pH 7.4, 50% Glycerol, 0.05% Proclin 300. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
