General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-00797) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human BCL2, targeting the amino acid region 1–211 of the protein. This antibody exhibits cross-reactivity with Human BCL2 from mouse and rat. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. Bcl-2, or B-cell lymphoma 2, is a proto-oncogene that encodes a key anti-apoptotic protein central to the regulation of programmed cell death, primarily by inhibiting mitochondrial outer membrane permeabilization (MOMP) to prevent the release of cytochrome c and subsequent activation of caspases. Discovered in 1984–1985 through its association with the t(14;18) chromosomal translocation in approximately 85% of follicular lymphoma cases, Bcl-2 was the first identified regulator of apoptosis, marking a paradigm shift in understanding how inhibition of cell death contributes to oncogenesis. As the founding member of the Bcl-2 protein family, it features a globular α-helical structure with four Bcl-2 homology (BH) domains (BH1–BH4), including a hydrophobic groove that binds pro-apoptotic family members such as BAX, BAK, and BH3-only proteins to maintain mitochondrial integrity and promote cell survival under stress.
DPABH-00797 is suitable for use in ELISA (1:4,000–1:8,000), IHC (1:50–1:100), Western blot (WB) (1:1,000–1:4,000) applications.
DPABH-00797 is supplied as a liquid formulation in 0.01M PBS, pH 7.4, 50% Glycerol, 0.05% Proclin 300. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
