ARHGAP12 (Rho GTPase Activating Protein 12) is a Protein Coding gene. Among its related pathways are Signaling by GPCR and Signaling by Rho GTPases. GO annotations related to this gene include GTPase activator activity. An important paralog of this gene is ARHGAP9. This gene encodes a member of a large family of proteins that activate Rho-type guanosine triphosphate (GTP) metabolizing enzymes. The encoded protein may be involved in suppressing tumor formation by regulating cell invasion and adhesion. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene.
Antigen Description
RHO GTPases (see ARHA, MIM 165390) that participate in a wide variety of cellular processes are active in their GTP-bound form and inactive in their GDP-bound form. The hydrolysis of GTP and the inactivation of these GTPases are regulated by GTPase-activating proteins (GAPs), such as ARHGAP12 (Zhang et al. , 2002 [PubMed 11854031]). GTPase activator for the Rho-type GTPases by converting them to an inactive GDP-bound state. The function about ARHGAP12 antigen include GTPase activator activity.
