Product Background
Gene Summary
RAD18 (RAD18, E3 Ubiquitin Protein Ligase) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with RAD18 include fanconi anemia, complementation group a. Among its related pathways are DNA Double-Strand Break Repair and Translesion synthesis by Y family DNA polymerases bypasses lesions on DNA template. GO annotations related to this gene include ligase activity and damaged DNA binding. The protein encoded by this gene is highly similar to S. cerevisiae DNA damage repair protein Rad18. Yeast Rad18 functions through its interaction with Rad6, which is an ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme required for post-replication repair of damaged DNA. Similar to its yeast counterpart, this protein is able to interact with the human homolog of yeast Rad6 protein through a conserved ring-finger motif. Mutation of this motif results in defective replication of UV-damaged DNA and hypersensitivity to multiple mutagens.
Antigen Description
This gene encodes the erythropoietin receptor which is a member of the cytokine receptor family. Upon erythropoietin binding, this receptor activates Jak2 tyrosine kinase which activates different intracellular pathways including: Ras/MAP kinase, phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase and STAT transcription factors. The stimulated erythropoietin receptor appears to have a role in erythroid cell survival. Defects in the erythropoietin receptor may produce erythroleukemia and familial erythrocytosis. Dysregulation of this gene may affect the growth of certain tumors. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase involved in postreplication repair of UV-damaged DNA. Postreplication repair functions in gap-filling of a daughter strand on replication of damaged DNA. Associates to the E2 ubiquitin conjugating enzyme UBE2B to form the UBE2B-RAD18 ubiquitin ligase complex involved in mono-ubiquitination of DNA-associated PCNA on Lys-164. Has ssDNA binding activity. E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase RAD18 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the RAD18 gene. 0The function about RAD18 antigen include Y-form DNA binding; damaged DNA binding; ligase activity; metal ion binding; protein binding; ubiquitin protein ligase binding; zinc ion binding.
